This is the primary attraction at the Lisbon Oceanarium. Holding a massive 5 million litres of seawater, this mammoth aquarium features both terrestrial and marine creatures. From whacky amphibians like the axolotl to adorable sea otters, watching these animals go about their business in the aquarium is a sight to behold. With cutting-edge technology to create artificial temperature and salinity conditions, the oceanarium has been able to maintain species from the tropical, temperate, and frigid zones.
Forest Underwater
This is a temporary exhibition by Takashi Amano that features tropical plant species enclosed in an aquarium. The lighting and layout of the tropical forest makes it a gorgeous sight to witness. This confluence of a natural environment and art is aimed at educating viewers about the fragile tropical ecosystems that are currently threatened by human interference.

This artistic piece by Maya de Almeida Arujo strives to spark a deep connection between humans and the ocean. Through wonderfully knit series of underwater photographs and footage, the exhibition has the potential to inspire a sense of awe. It took 8 months of filming with eleven different film and drone crews to create this fabulous exhibit. To simulate the dynamism of ocean ecosystems, post-production has been done with cutting-edge artificial intelligence.
